Lipoic Acid Reduces Hardening of Arteries, Boosts Weight Loss
R-Alpha Lipoic Acid is one of the hottest research nutrients, a powerful antioxidant that is also intimately involved in the metabolism of calories. Researchers from the Linus Pauling Institute and College of Veterinary Medicine at Oregon State University have completed animal studies clearly showing that “lipoic acid can inhibit formation of arterial lesions, lower triglycerides, and reduce blood vessel inflammation and weight gain – all key issues for addressing cardiovascular disease.”

Their current research showed up to 55% reduction in plaque formation by inhibiting adhesion molecules (the molecules that cause cholesterol to stick to the lining of arteries during inflammation). Lipoic Acid also works by improving insulin signaling and blood sugar use by cells, which resulted in a 40% less body weight gain and lower triglycerides. The study concluded that “lipoic acid supplementation may be a promising approach to prevent weight gain and to lower cardiovascular disease risk in humans.”

The superior form of lipoic acid is R-Alpha Lipoic Acid, the type used in scientific research. The cheap form is listed on nutrient labels as lipoic acid and is 50% synthetic using a molecule that spins backwards. Only R Alpha Lipoic Acid should be used for dietary supplementation.
